How To Organize Your Master Bedroom

Get rid of all that bedroom clutter and have a room you can retreat to and relax.  It’s all about creating a system that best suits you and sticking with it.

How To Organize Your Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is often the first place we dump anything and everything when we’re in a rush to tidy. Anything that doesn’t fit in a place gets thrown into to bedroom to be dealt with ‘later’. Once we close the door it all disappears, right? Oh if it was only that easy!

It doesn’t take too long for all this stuff to accumulate and become a big mess that we don’t know how to handle. It can start to feel overwhelming if you don’t have a place for everything.

Most people don’t have nearly as much closet space as they would like, or need. There is a large variety of storage systems available that will help you organize even the smallest of bedroom closets. You can even find places that will create a whole system for you, or you can create one yourself after doing some research.

Start with your clothes and sort them by season and get rid of anything you haven’t worn in more than six months. If you’re tight on space under the bed systems work well for this.

The clothes you decide to get rid of can be given to a local charity or sold at a garage sale in the summer. You’ll be amazed at how much closet space you can free up just by getting rid of excess clothes.

The top of dressers are famous for collecting clutter. Things get left there for later, but did you notice that later never comes? If you’ve started sorting things out to the proper place then you shouldn’t have much left on your dresser. Now would be a great time to create an organization strategy to prevent it from building up again.

Start by deciding what you will keep on your dresser and how you will organize it. Baskets do well to hold makeup, lotions and other small items. Baskets can also add to the room decor when chosen carefully. Containers in your top drawer will help to keep loose items from rolling around.

Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, your retreat, not a place to give you stress. Once your room is tidy and well-organized you will notice that you begin your day a little better because you don’t have to wake up looking at a room full of color.
