Quick Home Organization Tips

No matter if you're a stay at home mom or business woman, organizing your home can feel like an overwhelming task.  It also seems like no matter how often you clean, there is always more clutter and things to organize. Here are some tips on how to organize your home effectively.

1. If your children are of school age, prepare lunches the night before. Instead of rushing around making lunch in the morning you will then have more time to get everything else you need to do completed and get the kids off to school in a calm manner.

2. As you run out of items you need, write them on a white board you've put on your refrigerator.  This will save you time rushing around checking what you need before you head out shopping and will also make sure you don't miss important items because you're rushed.

3. Plastic Storage bins are get for so many uses, buy some and have them in your closets for storage. Another way to organize your closet is to buy the hangers that hold more than one piece of clothing and use those. Look around for closet storage solutions and you will find many ways to store more in the space you have and keep it well organized.

4. One big source of clutter in homes are old books, magazines and flyers.  Get rid of everything you don't read. Keep only the most current issues and throw out the rest.

5. Kitchen cabinets can be organized by using Con-Tact paper.  This will make cleaning out your cupboards a lot easier as they can simply be wiped.

6. Have a good look through everything in your medicine cabinet and throw out anything that is past the expiration date. Con-Tact can be used in this cabinet as well, and while you have everything out put it back in neatly.

7. Jewelry that has no proper place quickly clutters up the top of a dresser or night stand. Be on the lookout for a jewelry box that fits your needs and use it.  You'll be amazed how much time you save when your not searching for that bracelet every time you want to wear it!

8. Teach your children that it's important that they keep their rooms clean and tidy.  Having a system in place to reward them when their rooms are clean will give them incentive to do it and also teach them responsibility for themselves. Clear colored storage bins will be useful in the kids' rooms.

9. Store all of your cleaning supplies in one location, such as a closet or the basement. Use hooks to hang brooms, dusters, and mops. If you have a few shelves, place all of your cleaning detergents, light bulbs and other household items on them.  Having everything in one place will save you time and frustration when you just want to get the cleaning done so you can get on with your day.

10. CDs clutter up quickly if you don't have a system, buy a CD rack to store them on. If you also have DVDs then you'll want a rack that can store both.  There are plenty of options for all types of decor.

Organizing your home takes some extra effort and planning in the beginning, but you'll notice the results when you have more free time to do the things you actually enjoy doing!
